The Art of Pfaffing*

Pfaff: Verb.

1. to waste time doing nothing.
2. to waste time doing stupid things
3. to delay, dilly-dally, especially before leaving the house to be on time somewhere.
4. writing on your website when you’ve an exam that you haven’t properly revised for.

“I love to pfaff.”
“I didn’t do anything on Sunday; I just pfaffed around the house.”
“Stop pfaffing around and come to bed my love.”
“See I told you you’d fail. If only you hadn’t pfaffed so much.”

*eep… its pfaff… not faff. Apparently.

I have to confess I love to ‘Faff’ and I’m pretty damn good at it too - it is the years of practice that I’ve had
However don’t get into the habit of ‘Faffing ‘as one day you will look back at the time you have wasted
You have to get the balance just right
So you ‘ Keep on Faffing’ but get the balance right - RIGHT !!!! :-)

Ooopps !!!!! so it’s PFAFF - well who cares it is not that important to get the spelling right or is it ? :-(

Yes, Jay, IT IS! Precision of meaning and expression is more crucial than ever, especially in a world where a handful of pregnant chads decided the leadership of the most powerful country in the world - giving thea U.S. a President who then led our Prime Minister and government, like a flock of dozy sheep, into an unjust war. There is, however, no suggestion that this site is in the same category of influence or importance. BTW, there’s only one ‘p’ in ‘ooops’, or it would be pronounced ‘ops’. Yours truly, Mrs P. Dant.

Excuse me, Son, but why don’t I get a credit as your spelling and grammar guru?

… and the rogue ‘a’ which crept into the above post (’giving thea U.S….’ etc.) was a typo, which is a different thing entirely…
Two questions:
1. Why can’t one edit one’s own comments on this site?
2. ” ” ” spellcheck ” ” ” ?

Dear Jay - Well, you DID ask - ‘ well who cares it is not that important to get the spelling right or is it ? ‘ I can hardly be blamed for responding to your question… nor for the fact that you didn’t like the answer. Life just sucks, huh?
