Trailwalker UK 2008

Tomorrow, at 10am, I start walking… and walking… and walking and continue walking until I’ve reached 100km. No sleep. A daunting task by anyone’s standards.

For those looking to support us, here is the PDF you need. No need to print it out, there are several colour copies floating about. For the other three chaps looking to walk the walk, here is the PDF you need.

And here’s a little Trailwalker Video:

:D

So its been a while…

Taking an Open Uni course in photography (T189), passed another Microsoft exam and beat the guy that beat me at tennis who posted this:

John: i just have to say you are the worst tennis player i have ever met.

Let the gloating ensue!

Passed!

Passed the exam that I had failed a few weeks ago \o/

Also “passed” a test that I managed to cook a Beef Wellington for with an ex-chef and he didn’t go Gordon Ramsay on me! But then I annihilated him on FIFA2008 so perhaps it was a little unjust… And I wake up this morning and my girlfriend has given me her sore throat. Thanks :(

A Rose by Any Other Name…

I keep forgetting where I put this so I’m putting it here and hoping the internet archive will pick it up one day :)

When my parents christened me
They gave me both their surnames
My father’s African one
And my mother’s, which is English.
So that if I found that the African name
Brought with it a burden I found too heavy
To bear,
I could abandon it.

Mine is not an easy name to carry
People are afraid to say it
In case they insult me by mispronunciation.
When I was younger,
It was the subject of many jokes
From my classmates.
Some were kindly meant, and some were not.
And assumptions are made about me,
On the basis of my African name.

But I will not abandon it
Any more than it will abandon me.
It says who I am,
Where my roots are.
If I choose to lose the difficulties it brings.
I lose my history as well.
I am remembered because of it;
It marks me out
In a sea of Smiths and Joneses.

Failed!

Well… failed my 70-291 exam (MCSE geek exam)… again. Never mind though. I knew I wasn’t ready for it but I’ve already booked the retest and now work is beginning to flatten out (has been MAD since Christmas) I can get some study in.

Also, trying to take a picture a day this year. Yes there have been some catch ups, but first I have to upload them. Go into My Gallery on the right and see for yourself.

Right, I’m late to go to a party so I shall bid thee good day.

The Queen gets her own youtube channel

Amazing isn’t it! To think the first televised Christmas speech was only 50 years ago and now its available via youtube and available as a podcast!

What about the next 50 years…?

In other news Chuck Norris, the man who doesn’t read books but instead stares them down until he gets the information he wants, has sued the publisher Penguin who released a book claiming his tears do not actually cure cancer.

However the other 399 facts in “The Truth About Chuck Norris: 400 Facts About the World’s Greatest Human” such as Chuck Norris was the first person to tame a dinosaur, Chuck Norris can charge a cell phone by rubbing it against his beard and that he doesn’t have a a chin under his beard but in fact another fist can all be credited.

Chuck Norris doesn’t cry so the search for a cure for cancer goes on.

I can’t think of a think.

A wise man once said that… 10 points to whomever can find his name.

This phrase came to me when I was asked “what do you want for Christmas?” World peace? A squillion pounds? Both? I dunno… If I don’t know how can I tell you!

Two days of shopping ahead of me. It’ll really be 2 hours for me to get what I need on other peoples lists and the rest for my girlfriend but shhh… Don’t tell her I said that!
